‘Lockdown probation leaders’ and Fundamental Human Needs

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 disrupted lives across globe and nations were suddenly forced to adapt conditions that unprecedented, uncertain life-threatening. Nations responded by closing borders ordering their citizens work from home, forcing organisations those working them find new ways carrying out core functions disorientation, isolation, competing demands some cases, fear. extent which able negotiate crisis would depend on how managers staff. This study draws an analysis semi-structured interviews with 26 Scottish Criminal Justice Social Workers took place during national lockdown March–June 2020. Drawing theories leadership self-determination theory, findings reveal good at such a time are servant leaders who prioritise fundamental human needs staff reduce level uncertainty.
